As a society we like to think that we are getting smarter, but if you look at our health we are falling behind. 

Today our lives are busier and more stressful than ever. In Australia we work more than every before. A report by the Industrial Relations commision shows that;
approximately 30% of men worked more than 44 hours per average week, 10% worked more than 54 hours; and,
approximately 15% of women worked more than 44 hours per average week, 3% worked more than 54 hours. 

This often leads to bad eating habits which over time contribute to our weight gain. We eat on the run, at irregular times and often because we don’t have access to better food choices. Over time this causes weight gain and this is bad for our health... 
• Heart disease and stroke. 
• High blood pressure. 
• Diabetes. 
• Cancer.
• Gallbladder disease and gallstones. 
• Osteoarthritis. 
• Gout. 
• Breathing problems, such as sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for a short time during sleep) and asthma. 

The biggest concern is the increasing rates of childhood obesity. Children are almost 30 times more likely to be overweight or obese than 30 years ago. That’s frightening.
The good news is that we can turn it around.
Start by getting yourself into a regular eating routine, plan your meals and snacks it only takes a few minutes and can save you $ at the supermarket
Avoid eating when you think you need an ‘energy’ hit but you’re not hungry, go for a cup of tea instead. 

The anti-oxidants can make you feel relaxed and alert. Try to avoid eating on the run and make sure you eat SLOWLY...
