Eat Out Don't Blow Out
Eat out don't blow out
Believe it or not, you can eat out without gaining weight. New research from the University of Texas at Austin, has proven that despite the high calorie food we eat at restaurants can contribute to weight gain, you can still lose weight.
35 healthy women aged between 40 to 59 were asked to take part in the study. They were part of a six week program called "Mindful Restaurant Eating", a course designed to help reduce fat and caloric intake when eating in restaurants.
The great thing about this program was that it didn't focus on weight loss, more importantly preventing weight gain when eating out. During menopause women are more likely to gain weight, increasing the risk of developing heart disease and diabetes.
What the researchers found was that women who were taught to eat out mindfully lost weight and did not reduce the number of times they ate out. They lost on average 1.7kg during the six weeks.
In my book The Thermogenic Diet, I discuss some of the strategies you can use to eat out and stay healthy. There are so many healthy options to choose and you can use different strategies to maintain a healthy weight.
I believe that it is imperative to maintain a healthy lifestyle you must enjoy yourself. Eating out is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with friends and family. By making smarter food choices you can eat out and lose weight.
