Eat Mediterranean to live longer...
Eating a Mediterranean diet has now been linked to living longer. Four recent studies have all shown that a Mediterranean diet, based on fish, veg and dairy foods can help to increase life expectancy.
A new "H70 study" compared 70-year-olds who ate a Mediterranean diet with people who eat a more Western style diet with meat and animal products. The study involved thousands of 70+ year olds for more than 40 years. The results clearly show that if you eat a Mediterranean style diet you will have a 20% greater chance to live longer.
The study found that you will live on average 2 or 3 years more than those consuming meat and less vegetables, typical of the diet we consume in Australia. Other studies have shown similar results, such as people in Denmark, and northern Sweden, and the third on children. All of these studies demonstrated better health, which is what we are all hoping to acheive.
