A new study from Norway has indicated that eating three kiwi fruit each day is more effective at reducing your blood pressure than eating an apple? 

The researchers took a group of almost 190 people and placed them in 'three kiwi' a day or 'an apple' a day group. The people in the study had their blood pressure monitored 24 hours a day during the study. 

The researchers found that those who were eating 3 Kiwi fruit each day had a blood pressure reading almost 4 points lower that those eating apples.

Is there some magical ingredient in kiwifruit, and should we stop eating apples as a snack and choose kiwi fruit instead? The short answer is No. 

This research demonstrates the importance of including more fruit as part of a healthy diet. If you compare the amount of fibre from eating 3 kiwi fruit about double that of eating an apple. That is, if you eat it with the fury skin. You may be like my daughter who isn't keen on eating fury fruit. 

Kiwi fruit is also high Lutein which is a similar compound to Vitamin A. It is not typically associated with lowering blood pressure and is used to help prevent eye damage such as macular degeneration.

Ultimately you will benefit from eating a range of different fruit. My advice is to include 2 to 3 pieces of fruit a day, it is a good source of potassium which can reduce blood pressure and protect us from heart disease.
