Another Reason To Drink Coffee... Yeah!!!
Another reason to drink coffee
A new study has found that the more coffee you drink, the lower your risk of developing basal cell carcinoma, a common type of skin cancer. Researchers from Brigham, Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School discovered this as part of their study into the effects of coffee drinking and skin cancer.
Basal cell carcinoma, also known as BCC is the most common form of skin cancer. BCC looks like the outer layer of skin (epidermis) which start off as a "sore that will not heal". The sore, often bleeding or scabbing gets better and then comes back again.
Most BCCs emerge around the parts of the body which are exposed to the sun, mainly the face or neck. BCCs also appear on the leg, scalp, or stomach.
Nearly 1 million new cases of BCC are diagnosed each year in the United States. This study indicates that drinking coffee may be a positive way to reduce the rate of BCC. The NHS tracked 72,921 people from June 1984 to June 2008. There were 22,786 cases of BCC and 1,953 of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and 741 melanoma.
Women who drank more than 3 cups of coffee a day had 20% less chance of developing BCC, compared to people who had one cup a month. Men who drank at least 3 cups of coffee a day had a 9% lower risk of BCC.
So enjoy your morning cafe' stop because you are doing something good for your mind and body.
